Laboratory of Immunology, Pathomorphology and Molecular Genetics
The laboratory conducts investigations in the field of immunopathology and molecular medicine with PCR, ELISA, restriction fragment length polymorphism and other methods. The main areas of investigation are molecular diagnostic of sexually transmitted diseases, genotyping of infectious agents, diagnostic of mutations and genetic polymorphisms, connected with dermatological and venereological pathology, e.g gene filaggrin mutations in atopic dermatitis patients. The laboratory has developed PCR diagnostics for Chlamydia trachomatis, Trichomonas vaginalis, Herpes simplex virus I and II infections, immunofluorescence test for Chlamydia trachomatis as well as new methods of allergic dermatoses diagnostic. Plasmid and recombinant protein technologies are used for production of antigens of sexually transmitted pathogens Chlamydia trachomatis and Treponema pallidum.
